A comprehensive Google Shopping and Display ads setup to help a local home and garden retailer compete with national chains online.
Challenge
The client had over 800 products listed on their website but received almost no traffic from Google Shopping. They were competing against large retailers with established ad campaigns and needed a strategy that maximised visibility without a massive budget.
Solution
We optimised their Google Merchant Centre feed with enhanced product titles, descriptions, and custom labels based on margin and seasonality. A Shopping campaign was structured into product groups by category, with bid adjustments for high-margin items. We complemented this with a responsive Display retargeting campaign to re-engage website visitors who hadn't purchased.
Results
The Shopping campaign now drives over 1,200 product clicks per month at an average cost-per-click of £0.85, with a 4.2% conversion rate. Online revenue grew by 215% in the first quarter, and the retargeting display campaign recovers approximately 8% of abandoned carts, adding £2,800/month in recovered revenue.
